The King's North at Myrtle Beach National Golf Club opened for play in 1996. The course was designed by Arnold Palmer.
The North Course was completely redesigned in 1995 by Arnold Palmer, and is now known as the King's North Course. There are lakes, ponds, and marshlands coming into play on sixteen holes. There are two famous holes on this course: Number six, a par-5 that is dedicated to Kenny Rogers and named "The Gambler" in honor of his famous song. "The Gambler" tempts golfers with a shortcut to the green via an island fairway. (Two great shots allow a chance to eagle). The second signature hole is number 12, a 140-yard, par 3, requiring a shot from an elevated tee over water, to an island green with a bunker on the right side and two bunkers on the left. With over 40 sand traps guarding the fairway on Hole 18 you can understand why golfers think of this course as being not only beautiful, but also challenging. Carts are mandatory on the King's North Course.

The Southcreek Course opened for play in 1973. The course was designed by Arnold Palmer and Francis J. Duane.
The Southcreek Course has fairways that are mostly flat, but there is some mounding that can cause uneven lies and many of the fairways are doglegs. The greens are medium-sized, a little undulating, and elevated. There are ponds that come into play on six holes. This course has the smallest greens and greenside bunkers. Locals consider this course as the easiest of the three because of its length. This course was remodeled in 1990. Golfers may walk the Southcreek Course only with after 1 PM tee times.
The Southcreek Course at Myrtle Beach National Golf Course measures 6,416 yards from the tips and plays to a par-72. The course rating is 71.0 and the slope rating is 128.

The West Course opened for play in 1973. The course was designed by Arnold Palmer and Francis J. Duane.
The West Course is the longest course and is wide open. The only water hazard that comes into play is on hole #18, a 221-yard, par 3. This course has many trees that can alter your shots, but is still considered a wide open course. The large greens are well bunkered. Golfers may walk the West Course only with after 1 PM tee times.
The West Course at Myrtle Beach National Golf Course measures 6,866 yards from the tips and plays to a par-72. The course rating is 73.0 and the slope rating is 119.

Played off season. Interesting layout. Some holes a little tricked. The Gambler is a little overrated. Most signature holes are. The staff was very good and the whole complex is well run. Play this one if you only have time for one round at The National. The new greens were excellent.

I live in the area and I enjoy this course immensely....great layout, memorable holes, very good condition, staff 1st rate, service bar is more than adquate, very nice pro shop, upscale quality....Perhaps a little pricey but worth it. There are a lot of nice golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area but Kings North is a head above most. I would play and recommend this golf course over and over again. Very worthwhile experience.

I've played this course every year since 1990 as part of the Retired Military Golf Classic during the week of Memorial Day.
This is Myrtle Beach National's premier course, with premier pricing, and it's one of the best in the area. Has some memorable holes, including "The Gambler" with its island fairway, #18 with its 40-odd bunkers, and the signature par 3 with the "SC" bunkers alongside. Other than those, King's North looks a lot like the other two National courses (and most others in Myrtle Beach): lots of pines, not much rough, some water, but frankly, literally nothing that you'll remember three hours after finishing. I'd say this one is worth a play, though, just for the three "big" holes, especially The Gambler.
The Clubhouse is shared by all three National courses, and is well-staffed with friendly and competent people. This course is walkable, as it's pretty flat, and most holes are adjacent, with only a few long hauls from green to tee.
I highly recommend you try it.

I played this course several years ago and would play again. Tee setups are very fair for all golfers. Has some very interesting and challenging holes. Looks intemidating, but quite playable. Had group of 7 couples, all enjoyed this and the West Course.

I have been traveling to Myrtle Beach each January for the last 12 years and always love plaing the Myrtle Beach National Courses. It's not cheap, but the people are very friendly and helpful. The Kings North course is top of the line. Very fair, yet you can get yourself into some interesting situations. Stay out of trouble and you'll do ok.
